If you're just getting started, we will focus on shape and proportion,
as well as strong light and the use of shadows with charcoal, pastel
and graphite. We believe that a realistic approach is the best foundation
to begin building an artist's skills. Once an artist understands
how to create the illusion of reality on a drawing pad or canvas,
they have the tools to begin exploring their own creative vision.
Our students begin honing these tools with still life, landscapes,
portraits and figure drawings. Our Maryland art program encourages students to choose
subjects that have a personal significance so that they gain experience
creating emotion through their work.
Advanced students in our Baltimore art classes push their talents
and refine their technical skills with experiments in color and

Baltimore Art Classes

our class sizes small so that all of our students can benefit from
the experience and advice of a mentor.
Staub Art Studio has three levels of classes for children, young
artists and adults. Courses are offered in a semester format with
a fall and spring session as well as a short summer session. In
addition to our art classes, we hold workshops throughout the year.
At these 1 to 2 day workshops, you will learn to cartoon, draw a
caricature or self portrait or make a handmade mask for Halloween.
Our fall session of Baltimore art classes begins in mid-September
and runs through January. The spring session starts in February
and lasts through the end of May. Each of these sessions has 15
classes. A short summer session of 9 classes follows in June and
wraps up in the middle of August.
